IRIS needs your help!
There are countless opportunities for you and your network to make a positive impact in the community. We work in partnership with local organizations, congregations, and individual volunteers to carry out our work in welcoming supporting immigrants in Los Angeles. Learn how to get involved today!
Build an essentials kit/Organize a drive for essential items: IRIS provides essential items to refugees and immigrants securing their home. Be part of ensuring necessities by coordinating kits- through your own shopping savvy or with a group’s support! Our guide for various kits is found here: How to build welcome and essential kits for refugees, immigrants, and newcomers in Los Angeles — Interfaith Refugee and Immigration Service
Create a fundraiser for IRIS: Our entire budget was eliminated in January 2025. Many organizations have had to close, but IRIS is fighting to stay here for our clients and vulnerable people in need. Raising funds will keep our doors open so that we can continue to provide high-quality legal and social services for immigrants. And some good news? IRIS has a beautiful space to host! Let us know if you’d like to start planning an event.
Facilitate Workshops: Do you have a certified skill and public-speaking ability? IRIS works with academic institutions, community organizations, and high-skilled professionals to provide meaningful workshops to clients. Reach out if this opportunity may be a match for you.
Direct Support: IRIS works with trained volunteers to provide English learning instruction, Naturalization interview preparation, client & document transportation, and more. We are currently at capacity for onboarding direct support volunteers, but contact us if you’d like to be added to the waitlist.
Other Opportunities: Volunteer needs & pop-up events will be shared through the IRIS Newsletter. Some events include Essentials Kit Assembly, Garden Harvest/Maintenance, World Refugee Day support, among many more. Sign up here for updates.
Solidarity Makes a difference!
Take action today! By planning fundraisers and organizing events, you can aid in resource access, community building, education, and problem-solving that is so important in equity for immigrant community members. Think of the impact that can come with educating your friends and neighbors on issues facing immigration. If you have a busy schedule or limited availability, at-home advocacy and personal donations are a great way to be involved with IRIS.
It is important to not only reach out to those in our community, but local and state officials as well. They need to hear from you! Express your care and concern for your neighbors by calling and writing to them today. We are a country by the people and for the people. Your voice is crucial to continuing this support. Check out our “Advocacy” page to learn more ways to involve yourself in these initiatives.
With your help, IRIS will continue to welcome the stranger and support immigrants. It is up to those who care about these issues to listen and stand with the voices that need to be heard. Forced migration is a crisis that persists with the world’s violence and natural disasters. Thank you for your time, donation, and support in sharing the journey with all of us who seek to reclaim their lives in freedom and happiness.
